Testimonials

Eva Mendes, LMHC, NCC, is a widely recognized couples’ counselor who excels at working with couples where one or both partners have Asperger syndrome and are on the autism spectrum.

Working with Eva has been a game-changer for me. As a young adult on the spectrum, I’ve always struggled with social connections and job stress. Eva helped me not only improve my communication skills but also build my confidence in dating—thanks to her guidance, I was able to find a wonderful girlfriend! She also helped me develop strategies to manage work stress and stay organized, making my job much more manageable. Eva’s approach is practical, supportive, and empowering. I feel like I’m finally moving forward in my personal and professional life. I’m really grateful for her help.

Eva completely changed how I see myself and my neurodivergence. The autism evaluation process was something I was anxious about, but from the start, Eva made me feel comfortable and understood. During our sessions, I not only got a clearer understanding of my autism, but she also helped me figure out practical strategies to navigate day-to-day challenges. One of the best parts was how she also worked with my partner and me to improve our communication. We were able to tackle some difficult conversations that we’d been avoiding for years. Plus, Emily, Eva’s assistant, was amazing—always so responsive and made sure everything ran smoothly. I can’t recommend Eva enough for anyone seeking a thorough evaluation, therapy, or couples support.

Eva has been a game-changer for my husband and me. Before working with her, we struggled to communicate, often feeling misunderstood. Eva gave us specific tools that helped us truly listen to each other and express our feelings without fear of judgment. I remember one session when she guided us through a conversation about my needs, and I felt so much relief—finally, I was able to open up in a way that felt safe. It’s made a huge difference in how we connect and understand each other now.

I had an excellent experience working with Eva. She is compassionate and nonjudgmental, and made the autism evaluation process very comfortable. She’s highly informed in the current clinical knowledge surrounding the autism spectrum and provided a thorough evaluation over the course of several sessions. This was helpful to allow time for processing in between sessions, and a chance to remember things that I may have left out otherwise. She also provided practical coaching around some of the bigger challenges in my life related to my neurodivergence, and validation of my personal life experience, which is something I’d never experienced before. Eva provided couples counseling for my husband and I as well, to help us communicate about the diagnosis but also improve our communication as a whole. Her assistant Emily is also wonderful—responsive and very helpful. I would highly recommend Eva for autism evaluation, therapy, and couples counseling.

Eva’s presentation at North Shore Medical Center was a great success! Every completed participant evaluation form reflected what an excellent job she did. Several people commented on how much they enjoyed her interweave of theory and the practical applications to their clinical work. Eva is a gifted speaker and possesses a wonderful ability to connect with a diverse audience.  We thank her for being so well prepared, flexible and easy to work with. She made my job a pleasure. Hopefully, she will consider doing another presentation for us.

Eva Mendes has helped my husband and me tremendously in our relationship by giving us tools to learn how to communicate with each other. These tools helped me personally by motivating me to open myself to my husband and communicate my needs.

I would like you to know that Eva is one of very, very, very few people in my entire life who’ve truly touched me to my soul. I think she is just amazing and wonderful.

I really enjoyed working with Eva – she is very knowledgeable in the area of Asperger’s. She was able to help me through a time when I needed to understand more about the father of my baby, who was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome as a child. Eva is very thoughtful, easy to work with, and asked many good questions in order to help me better understand what I was feeling.

I would love to be considered for couples therapy with Eva. I think my husband would respond well to Eva because she is so positive and patient and draws people out.
